 About Ms. Nelson

I was born and raised in Colorado, in an area of the foothills called Coal Creek Canyon. I went to Coal Creek Elementary (the smallest school in Jefferson County!), Bell Middle School, and Golden High School. When I was in high school, I took advantage of the Teaching Internship Program, and did an internship at Coal Creek Elementary in the first grade classroom, with a teacher I had when I was in kindergarten! This helped me decide I wanted to study elementary education at the University of Northern Colorado. I majored in social science and minored in reading and psychology, also holding down a wide assortment of jobs during my 4 years in Greeley! Outside of school, I enjoyed fencing on the UNC fencing team and spending time in the mountains. In the summer of 2004, I decided to go back to school and I’m currently working on my Master’s Degree at the University of Colorado’s Denver campus, in English as a Second Language. I continue to enjoy hiking, skiing, fencing, reading, and traveling in my free time.
