 Visual ArtsMinimize

Centennial students enjoy art once a week as part of their specials experience.  Consistent with the LPS curriculum, the Visual Arts program provides opportunities for all students at Centennial to learn skills and create works of art in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and 3D, ceramics, and collage.   The art room is equipped with a multi-media projector for viewing works of art on a large scale--both works of the masters as well as student art.

Throughout the year, student work is exhibited in various art shows in Littleton and within Centennial Academy.  In past years, selected Centennial artists have participated in shows at the Bemis Library, Downtown Littleton Merchants' Show, and The Curtis Arts & Humanities Center in Greenwood Village.  These shows provide opportunity for work to be displayed in a professional manner and setting.  Families are invited to attend these shows as well as the opening receptions.

 Meet Mrs. RuckhausMinimize

Mrs. Ruckhaus has been teaching art at Centennial Academy since 2001.  In the fall of 2002, when the fine arts program (CAFE) was launched at Centennial, she became the coordinator of that program in addition to teaching art.  She received her BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Colorado,  When she's not teaching art and coordinating the arts program, she enjoys skiing, hiking, bicycling, cooking, and gardening with her two children and husband.  Both of her children are LPS students, one of whom spent five years in the Suzuki Violin program at Centennial.
