Dear Centennial Website Visitors!

Recognizing that our website offers you a window through which you can learn about our school, we have sought to open the window wide and provide you with as much of a picture as possible of our outstanding school. Centennial Academy of Fine Arts offers our students a rigorous academic program paired with an arts program comparable to none in the Denver metropolitan area. At Centennial, children have access to a broad array of arts classes, including daily instruction in instrumental and vocal music, performing arts, and visual arts. Additionally, we provide arts events, assemblies, opportunities for our students to perform for one another, and private lessons available at school. As you maneuver through our website, you will experience an in-depth look at all that Centennial has to offer.

Our arts program adds value to the education we provide for our children. Additionally, our highly trained, caring staff consistently moves our children along the pathway to academic success. Through our all-day, everyday kindergarten program, our highly differentiated gifted/talented program, our cutting edge technology opportunities, and our supportive counseling program, we bring out the best in every student. What is more, our school provides a welcome environment to our parents/families. Centennial is a warm and friendly place, where everyone values education and seeks to foster the growth of our next generation.

Visiting our school through the Internet is one way to learn about us. We encourage you to come to our school and see the exciting ways that learning comes alive at Centennial Academy of Fine Arts!

 Meet Mrs. Donovan

Born and raised in the middle of Kansas, Mrs. Donovan attended the University of Kansas, where she received a BA in history with a minor in theatre. At her brother’s graduation from college, Mrs. Donovan met her future husband, who was her brother’s best friend. Mr. and Mrs. Donovan married a year later and have been together ever since.

After college, Mrs. Donovan worked in Colorado Springs as a caseworker in a social service agency. Her husband decided to attend law school – before leaving for Washington, D.C., Mr. and Mrs. Donovan traveled in Europe. While Mr. Donovan attended law school, Mrs. Donovan taught in a federally funded day care program in inner city Washington, D.C. Later, she received a MA from the George Washington University and taught in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Mr. and Mrs. Donovan decided that they wanted to move back to Colorado. Mr. Donovan continued his legal practice and Mrs. Donovan began working as an Educational Consultant with Jefferson County Public Schools. Mr. and Mrs. Donovan had their first daughter, Cory, in 1980. Two years later, Allison was born. While Cory and Alli were growing up, Mrs. Donovan continued to teach, spending some of her time in 1st and 2nd grades and some of her time in special education. Later, she became a supervising teacher, taught at University of Colorado at Denver, opened at new school as teacher on special assignment, and became a principal in 1995 with the Adams 50 School District. In 1999, she moved to LPS and became the principal at Centennial.
